The Avimecc production chain begins in the building where the eggs are incubated and hatched.
This is an ultra-modern and technologically advanced structure, designed in full conformity with the strictest regulations currently in force regarding safety and hygiene. Stringent procedures are employed to ensure that the premises are fully protected against any type of external contamination.
The building is fitted with various rooms where the eggs are incubated at a controlled temperature.
In another section the new-born chicks are checked and separated by sex.
The chicks produced in this manner are then transferred to the rearing units.

Immediately after the eggs hatch, the chicks are transferred to the special rearing units. Here they are supplied with food and water and housed in ideal microclimatic conditions designed to promote the best possible growth.
Every rearing unit is monitored 24 hours a day by personnel allocated to each particular site. These attendants check the overall welfare of the birds on a daily basis and are ready to intervene immediately whenever required.
A team of specialist vets and technicians also carries out a careful daily inspection of every rearing unit, to check the state of health of the chickens and confirm their continuing growth.

The plant designed to produce poultry feed for the integrated rearing system at Avimecc is one of the largest and most modern feed mills in Sicily.
The mill is fully automated and operates 24 hours a day, guaranteeing the provision of fresh feed for the rearing units. The raw ingredients for the poultry feed are obtained from reliable, certified suppliers on the international market, ensuring that the constituents of the product are secure and traceable.
After being unloaded at the port of Pozzallo, the raw ingredients are transported direct to the Feed Mill, where they are quickly processed and distributed amongst the various rearing units, using the company’s own vehicles.
A modern laboratory inside the feed mill carries out daily tests on every batch of feed produced in order to ensure its conformity in terms of composition, and its safety and suitability for animal consumption.
The composition of the feed mixture, and therefore the birds’ diet, is carefully formulated by qualified nutritionists. It is particularly rich in proteins, fats and vitamins, to ensure the poultry receive a controlled and balanced combination of nutritional elements.
